2014 Evaluation Results / by Alistair Glidden

Dear PMC'ers past, present, and future,

We are pleased to announce the results of the 2014 evaluations! Most categories offered delegates the opportunity to rank various attributes of the conference from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent). The ratings, averaged across the 566 evaluations submitted, are below.

4.5   Overall Quality - Entire Conference Experience
4.5   Overall Quality - Committee Experience
4.1   Overall Quality - Full Session Experience

4.6   Hyatt Overall
4.6   Overall Quality - Committee Chair
4.4   Overall Quality - Full Chair
4.4   Committee Chair's Ability to Maintain Order
4.1   Committee Chair's Knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure
4.1   Billbooks
4.1   Hyatt Full Session Rooms
4.0   Keynote Speaker
3.9   Congressional Ball
3.9   Committee Length
3.8   Hyatt Committee Rooms
3.7   Full Session Length
3.2   Website/Email

We are committed to addressing issues that were widely brought up in the free response sections of the evaluation. In order of frequency with which they were mentioned, here are the suggestions people had:

  1. Modernize and update the website, and reactivate the pmc@princeton.edu account.
  2. Decrease the ambient noise level in Independence A during committee sessions.
  3. Shorten full sessions.
  4. Provide snacks during committee and full breaks.
  5. Provide WiFi in the conference areas.

Issues 1 and 2 we've already addressed. You're reading this on our new website (which has many more features than you would think at first glance; take a moment to explore), and you can send us an email at pmc@princeton.edu if you have questions. And we recognize that noise in Independence A was a huge issue last year; we are exploring steps we can take to reduce it.

Issues 3-5 are less clear-cut. They are all malleable to some extent, but there are trade-offs associated with changing them. If you'd like to make your voice heard, please head over and submit a 2015 evaluation (you can skip right to the "Would You Rather..." section).

We would like to thank all of the delegates and staff for their hard work at PMC 2014. As the reviews resoundingly showed, it was a great success, and we can't wait to see you all back in D.C. this November!

Best regards,
Alistair Glidden and Richard Peay
